We’ve got plenty of fun planned for the rest of June. In just a few days time (17/06/16) we’ve got the first gig from SINK in about 25 years. Our classic movie night features The Blues Brothers (suits and shades optional), and we’ve got an evening of Old Skool Reggae and Dub from TONIC.
The first weekend of the month brings a great night of punk & indie noise rock from touring Wigan band Riggots on Saturday 2nd. They are supported by touring New Zealand punk band Hollywoodfun Downstairs! (Must be the furthest travelled band to play at The Steamboat?!) Kicking off the night will be local guys Casual Nausea, for what promise to be loud, lively and cracking night!
Sunday 3rd is our ever popular monthly Wax on the Waterfront, starting at the new time of 5pm through until 9pm, it’s the perfect Sunday chill out from the night before or just a great way to enjoy some top tunes, tasty beers and a friendly crowd!
Legendary 70’s punk band The Lurkers are on Saturday 9th. Supported by London band The Featherz and with their final gig, local guys The 4130’s. It will be busy so arrive early to avoid disappointment.
The middle of the month we have a fundraising event for the upcoming May Day festival in Alexandra Park. We’ll have bands battling for a slot to play at the festival. On the Saturday night (16th) we welcome back the brilliant Norwich based alternative rock band The Thinking Men. Off the back of their sell out EP launch gig at The Norwich Arts centre, this is a great chance to see them in Ipswich at this free gig.
The second half of the month starts with our classic movie night. This month we’ll be showing ‘Withnail & I’. Amazing drinks offers and HUGE chilli cheese hotdogs during the film! Get here early if you want the sofa!!
Loads more of the usual stuff going on – Sunday lunch jazz sessions, fortnightly quiz nights, folk jam sessions, tasty food and loads of superb spring pale ales and new ciders for the sunny weather.
Oh and one more thing – it’s not actually in April but it’s worth a mention because it’s happening on Sunday 1st May – Wax on the Waterfront May Day Special. The boys will be playing your vinyl as usual but we will also have live music from legendary UK skate punksters The Stupids supported by Molasses. The night starts from 8pm, FREE ENTRY with a donation on the door for Refugees Rock. Arrive early to avoid disappointment!
Hope to see you soon!
